Who is Cary

Born in Dallas, Texas in 1968, Cary Macey is a contemporary artist whose artwork evolves around his past and present experiences centered around art history and music.

Discovering his passion for art at an early age while working at his family's art supply company, he states, "I was fortunate enough to learn and absorb from other artists on different styles and techniques, it was a very hands on experience that helped with my direction and artistic growth.”

Paying tribute to the avant-garde art movement highlighting cubism and its emergence with Picasso, Braque and Metzinger, Cary looks to modernize artistic traditions with his process and dialogue while exploring different themes of human behavior through geometric shapes and abstraction. The process creates a fictional setting of multiple viewpoints and perspectives while combining fragmented faces for expression.

Cary’s desired effect is to create a stage for interpretation and discussion.

The mediums he works in are acrylic, pigment sticks, oil & wax pastels and pencils. Cary's creative process is ever evolving with glimpses into his emotions and personality.
